Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Guardians:

What an interesting and crazy end to our school year of 2019/2020, and welcome to 2020/2021 I know it will be another fantastic year at Iron River School!  I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the new and returning families. We are so excited to have you all at our wonderful school!

Our students are very important to us and we continually strive to make Iron River School a safe and caring school, where each child is loved and cared for. Our Mission Statement is, “with enthusiasm and support we challenge learners to achieve their highest potential and develop into responsible and caring citizens.”

Iron River School offers Preschool to Grade 8 programming to serve the needs of students in the Iron River area and is an exciting place for our students to learn!

Our staff focus on meeting the individual needs of our students first and operate from a student centred model of instruction.  We believe in a holistic approach to education and supporting our students’ individual learning needs.  We continually focus on implementing the best instructional practices available to successfully engage students in meeting the curriculum outline in the Alberta Program of Studies.  Iron River staff are also committed to the implementation of a school wide Moral Intelligence program that our student leadership group helps support.

At Iron River School, we value our parent volunteers and community members tremendously.  Our School Council is a highly effective team that works cooperatively with our staff to address our students’ needs.  Even though this year is a bit different due to Covid, our doors are always open; please do not hesitate to come on by or contact us if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.  I believe that open communication is required in order to effectively work as partners in ensuring your child has a successful school year.
